Description

Ethyl 2-phenylacetoacetate is a carboxylate that has been shown to be an inhibitor of imidazopyridines, potent antiproliferative agents. It is also a low energy reactant and photolytic agent. Ethyl 2-phenylacetoacetate has been found to inhibit the growth of du145 cells and other cancer cells in vitro. This compound may work by reacting with the methylene group on the imidazopyridine ring, thereby preventing the formation of the reactive species that can initiate DNA damage. In addition, this compound inhibits fungal cell growth and halides antifungal activity.
