Description

N-Ethyl-N-benzylaniline-3'-sulfonic acid is a chemical that can be used as an oxidant. It reacts with sulfides, such as thiosulfates and thiocyanates, to produce sulfur dioxide gas. N-Ethyl-N-benzylaniline-3'-sulfonic acid has carcinogenic properties and should not be used in the presence of nitrous acid or metal complex dyes. The salt solution of this chemical must be heated to a high temperature before it will react with hydrochloric acid and water. When heated, this compound will also react with sodium nitrite to form a salt solution of nitrous acid and hydrochloric acid.
