Description

(2S)-2-Ethyl-8-methyl-1-thia-4,8-diazaspiro[4,5]decan-3-one is a muscarinic agonist that has been shown to improve cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer's disease. It also improves the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and lowers the risk of stroke. This drug is an antagonist to acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors (M1, M2) and binds to these receptors by competitive inhibition. As a result, it increases the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain, which may lead to improved cognitive function.
