Description:
Ethyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylate belongs to the class of triazole derivatives. It can be used as a catalyst for the cyclocondensation of terminal alkyne and aldehyde. The reaction is initiated by catalytic amounts of transition metal ions (e.g., Fe3+). Ethyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylate also catalyses the formation of amide bonds in organic synthesis reactions. The compound has been shown to cleave DNA at antigenomic sites with an efficiency that is comparable to that of hydroxylamine.
