Product Information
- Cyclobutane, ethynyl-
- Cyclobutyl acetylene
Ethynylcyclobutane is a compound that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the amine groups of the enzyme's active site. It has been shown to be effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other bacteria. Ethynylcyclobutane has a low energy dipole moment, which may be responsible for its antimicrobial activity. This molecule has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of Covid-19, an antiviral drug that was used during the 2009 pandemic. Ethynylcyclobutane also shows potent antibacterial activity against bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics such as penicillin.
