Ethyl 4-bromo-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate is a regiospecific, carbamate compound that can be used to synthesize formyl compounds. It has been shown to react with chloroformates to form the corresponding 4-bromo-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid derivatives. This reaction is stoichiometric and does not require the presence of a base. This product is also reactive, making it suitable for cross coupling reactions with nucleophiles.
