Description:
Ethoxyquin is a synthetic antioxidant that was originally developed as a plant protectant. It is used as an additive in animal feed, animal and pet food, and poultry feed to prevent fats from becoming rancid. Ethoxyquin has been shown to have carcinogenic potential in animals. The metabolism of ethoxyquin has been studied extensively, but the mechanism of its toxicity remains unclear. The effect of ethoxyquin on humans is not known.
