Product Information
Eicosapentaenoyl ethanolamide (EPA) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that belongs to the omega-3 group of fatty acids. It has been shown to have immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. EPA has been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases such as hepatitis C, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. EPA also decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering systolic blood pressure and reducing platelet aggregation. EPA can be used for the treatment of prostate cancer cells due to its ability to inhibit protease activity and protein target. The physiological effects of EPA are due to its structural similarity with other essential fatty acids such as arachidonic acid, which is involved in inflammatory responses. Structural biology studies show that EPA inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines from T helper cells.
