- 5-ethyl-2H-tetrazole
1-Ethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrazole is a diagnostic reagent that is used in the diagnosis of viral or bacterial infections. 1-Ethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrazole is commonly used to detect the presence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in humans. It has been shown to inhibit HIV replication by inhibiting reverse transcription and DNA synthesis. It also has been shown to inhibit hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis D virus (HDV) replication in vitro. It was validated for use as an anti-viral agent against HBV and HDV in a clinical trial with patients who were chronic carriers of these viruses.
