5-Ethyl-1-aza-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane is a glycol ether that has been shown to be a potent biocide and detergent additive. It has been used in the production of detergents, as well as in clinical relevance for its antimicrobial properties. 5-Ethyl-1-aza-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane is also known as 1,4:2,5:2',6'-pentamethylenebis(hydroxymethyl)-piperidine and is used as a crosslinking agent in collagen or glycol ethers.
