1,2-Ethanedisulfonic acid is a chemical compound that has shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines such as epidermal growth factor and prostaglandin E2 in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. 1,2-Ethanedisulfonic acid also inhibits the production of monoclonal antibodies by B cells and suppresses inflammation in autoimmune diseases. 1,2-Ethanedisulfonic acid has been shown to be stable under a wide range of conditions and exhibits low toxicity in animal models.
