Elaidamide is a 5-HT2 receptor agonist. It binds to the 5-HT2 receptors, which are located in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. Elaidamide has been shown to have a number of physiological effects, including the promotion of sleep. Elaidamide also has biochemical properties that are similar to oleamide and produces similar reactions in an experimental model. Elaidamide has been shown to affect neuronal death, metabolism, and neurotrophic factors. The toxicological studies conducted on elaidamide have shown that it does not cause any adverse effects on the heart or respiratory system when administered at doses up to 1000 mg/kg body weight.
