cis-Entacapone is a drug that is used to treat Parkinson's disease. It is a prodrug of entacapone, which is an inhibitor of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), an enzyme that breaks down catecholamines such as dopamine and norepinephrine. cis-Entacapone has been shown to be effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease when combined with levodopa, carbidopa, or benserazide.
