Description:
D-erythro-dihydro-D-sphingosine-1-phosphate (Etidocaine) is a fatty acid that is a metabolite of the amino acid L-serine. It is used as a fluorescent probe to detect the activity of phospholipase A2 and has been shown to have an effect on the levels of camp in rat liver microsomes. Etidocaine has also been shown to stimulate primary cells in culture and can be used as a model system for studying the effects of L-serine on cell metabolism.
