2-(2-Ethoxyphenoxymethyl)oxirane is a solvent system that contains benzyl, ethyl and cyclic ether groups. It is produced by the reaction of benzaldehyde with ethylene oxide that leads to the formation of an oxime. This compound has two different polymorphs, alpha and beta. The alpha form is more soluble in water and has a higher vapor pressure than the beta form. The alpha form also has a lower melting point than the beta form.
