Ethyl (2R,4S)-4-methylpipecolate is a synthetic compound with a hydrophobic and chiral nature. It is an inhibitor of thrombin that has been found to be potent and selective, with an inhibitory effect on the catalytic activity of the enzyme. The inhibition potency is greater than that of l-tartaric acid and it can be synthesized diastereoselectively from l-tartaric acid.
