Product Information

Name:
Ethyl (2S,4R)-4-methylpipecolate
Synonyms:
  • (2S,4R)-4-Methyl-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester(2S-cis)-4-Methyl-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester
Description:

Ethyl (2S,4R)-4-methylpipecolate is a chiral compound that is an enantiomer of ethyl (2R,4S)-4-methylpipecolate. It has been shown to undergo cycloadditions with chiral dienes and acyclic dienes in the presence of catalysts such as titanium tetrachloride. These reactions produce optically pure diastereomers and are useful for the synthesis of various heterocyclic rings. Ethyl (2S,4R)-4-methylpipecolate has been shown to have a higher average yield than ethyl (2R,4S)-4-methylpipecolate in the Diels-Alder reaction with glyoxal.
