Product Information

Name:
Ethyl (2S,4S)-4-methylpipecolate
Synonyms:
  • (2S,4S)-4-Methyl-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester(2S-trans)-4-Methyl-2-piperidinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester
Description:

Ethyl (2S,4S)-4-methylpipecolate is an anticoagulant that is a white powder. It is used in the manufacture of drugs and as a reagent for chemical analyses. The pharmacopeia provides parameters for the elution of this substance. Acetonitrile can be used to elute it from silica gel using a linear gradient. The validation was carried out using high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection at 210 nm, and the method has been validated according to ICH guidelines. The flow rate should be set at 1 ml/min and the wavelength should be set at 220 nm. Chromatographic methods are linear and provide a chiral separation of this substance from its mirror image, ethyl (2R,4S)-4-methylpipecolate. Trifluoroacetic acid can be used as an eluent for this substance.
