Ethyl 2-aminoindole-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of heterocyclic compounds. It is synthesized by refluxing ethyl 2-aminoindole-3-carboxylate in acetic acid with nitric acid and guanidine hydrochloride as catalysts. The product formation is determined by the environment, such as pH and temperature. Ethyl 2-aminoindole-3-carboxylate has been shown to be an excellent catalyst for the synthesis of amides from nitriles and carboxylic acids under mild conditions.
