Description:
Kenpaullone is an ester that inhibits the activity of kinase-3β, which is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates glycogen synthase. Kenpaullone also has antimalarial activity and is effective against the parasite Plasmodium falciparum. Kenpaullone binds to the active site of glycogen synthase and inhibits its ability to form glucose from glycogen. This drug may be used in combination with other antimalarial drugs to treat malaria.
