Description:

S-Ethyl N-phenylisothiourea is a heterocyclic compound that has affinity for the endothelial cell histamine receptor. It has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in animal models of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. S-Ethyl N-phenylisothiourea is a potential inhibitor of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase and also inhibits the synthesis of lipid peroxidation products. S-Ethyl N-phenylisothiourea has been shown to be a potent agonist at imidazole receptors and competitively inhibits isoforms of imidazole receptors, such as histamine H1 receptors.
