N-Ethyl-4-methoxybenzenemethanamine is a chemical and a psychoactive drug. It has been shown to have antipsychotic effects, which may be due to its ability to block the reuptake of dopamine. This drug also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins by blocking the activity of cyclooxygenase. N-Ethyl-4-methoxybenzenemethanamine is not active against gram-positive bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex, but is effective against gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis.
