Ethyltriphenylphosphonium iodide is a reactive, aromatic hydrocarbon that belongs to the group of fatty acids. It is produced by reacting ethyl triphenyl phosphite with iodine and has a viscosity of 3 cP at 25 °C. This compound is used as a polymerization catalyst for lp-pla2 activity in the production of polycarboxylic acid. Ethyltriphenylphosphonium iodide has been shown to be effective against cancer cells and can be used to increase the pH in acidic environments. The optimum concentration of this compound is 1 mM.
