9-(4-Ethynylphenyl)-9H-carbazole (CzPA) is a molecule that has been studied extensively in the field of organic semiconductors. CzPA is a low molecular weight material with an aromatic ring and a benzothiadiazole side chain. The molecular electrostatic potential of this molecule is calculated to be -3.1 ± 0.1 eV, which indicates that it can be considered as electron rich.
The optical properties of CzPA are also interesting, with strong fluorescence and phosphorescence emissions from both the ground and excited states. When used as a dopant in polymer films, CzPA has been shown to have efficiencies up to 50%.
