Description

4-Ethoxybenzene-1,2-diamine is a coupler that can be used in the synthesis of dyestuffs. It is activated by exposure to UV light or through treatment with an oxidizing agent. 4-Ethoxybenzene-1,2-diamine is often used in reversed-phase liquid chromatography and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole has been shown to inhibit the reaction of this compound with hydroxylamine. 4-Ethoxybenzene-1,2-diamine has also been shown to react with tetraaminopyrimidine to form a hydrazone intermediate. This hydrazone then undergoes a transition from the cis to trans configuration when exposed to UV light.
