Description:

Ethyl 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)glyoxylate is a potent antibacterial agent that binds to the ribosome of gram-negative bacteria and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This active form is also effective against other gram-negative organisms, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ethyl 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)glyoxylate is an aliphatic compound that is made in high yield from the cyclopentanol precursor. The nitrogen atom in this molecule makes it heterocyclic, which distinguishes it from other antibacterial agents.
