Product Information
- Cyclohexaneacetic Acid, 4-Oxo-, Ethyl Ester
- Ethyl 2-(4-oxocyclohexyl)acetate
Ethyl (4-oxocyclohexyl)acetate is a cyclic ketone that is synthesized by elimination of ethyl formate, followed by intramolecular cyclization. The reaction starts with the addition of ethyl formate to collidine and the formation of an unstable intermediate, which undergoes elimination to produce ethyl (4-oxocyclohexyl)acetate. This compound has been shown to be a bridgehead molecule in the synthesis of other organic compounds.
