N-Ethyldicyclohexylamine is an amide that has been used in the synthesis of polycarboxylic acids. It reacts with unsaturated alkyl groups and nitrogen atoms to form amines, which are then reacted with chlorine atoms to form chloramines. These reactions have been shown to be reversible, with the product of the reaction being dependent on the activation energy. The chloramines can then react with hydroxyl groups or aromatic hydrocarbons to form a number of different products. N-Ethyldicyclohexylamine has been shown to inhibit growth in a variety of autoimmune diseases and cancer cells.
