erythro-N-Boc-L-3,5-difluorophenylalanine epoxide is a tertiary alcohol that is synthesized by reacting erythro-N-Boc-L-3,5-difluorophenylalanine with an aldol reaction. It is an inhibitor of protease enzymes, which are responsible for the breakdown of proteins in the body. Erythro-N-Boc-L-3,5-difluorophenylalanine epoxide is also stereogenic and enantioselective. The stereogenic property means that it has two chiral centers and can exist in two forms that are mirror images of each other.
