Description

Ethyl 6-bromo-4-hydroxyquinoline-3-carboxylate is an anti-viral drug that belongs to a class of compounds called integrase inhibitors. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 integrase enzyme, thereby preventing viral replication and the spread of infection. This compound targets the active site of the integrase enzyme and reduces its ability to integrate viral DNA into host cells. The compound also inhibits other enzymes, including those involved in energy metabolism, which may account for some side effects. Ethyl 6-bromo-4-hydroxyquinoline-3-carboxylate has been shown to be effective in vitro against HIV type 1 (HIV1) strains.
