Ethylene Glycol Bis(4-carboxyphenyl) Ether (EGPE) is a diacid that is used in the manufacture of polymers. Polycondensation reactions are often used to produce EGPE from monomers such as malonic acid and ethylene glycol. EGPE has viscosities that depend on the molecular weight, which can be determined using viscosity meters. The viscosities of EGPE can also be measured using a rotational viscometer. Thermally, EGPE undergoes thermal degradation, losing water molecules and undergoing changes in molecular weight. This process can be analyzed using elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis.
