Erianin is a natural compound that is found in the plant Dendrobium. It has been shown to have anticancer properties and may be an effective chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment. Erianin inhibits the activity of the hl-60 cells, which are derived from human leukemia cells. It also causes cell death by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting nuclear DNA synthesis. Erianin binds to the Mcl-1 protein, inhibiting its ability to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and oxidative injury, leading to cell death by apoptosis. Erianin has been shown to be more potent than other compounds that target the same pathway in cancer cells.
