Ecliptasaponin A is a growth factor-β1 analogue that inhibits TNF-α and interleukin-6 production in macrophages by modulating the mitochondrial membrane potential. It also has an anti-cancer effect. Ecliptasaponin A is a glycoside with one hydroxyl group and one dinucleotide phosphate, which are characteristic features of saponins. The autophagic process is activated by Ecliptasaponin A, which may be due to its ability to increase the levels of endogenous substances such as lysosomal acid phosphatase. Ecliptasaponin A has been shown to have a protective effect on the lacrimal gland, which may be due to its ability to stimulate the secretion of endogenous substances such as lacrimal gland fluid.
