Product Information

Name:
4-(2-Ethyl-5-Fluoro-1,3-Dihydroinden-2-Yl)-3H-Imidazole
Synonyms:
  • Fipamezole
  • 5-(2-ethyl-5-fluoro-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-2-yl)-1H-imidazole
Description:

4-(2-Ethyl-5-Fluoro-1,3-Dihydroinden-2-Yl)-3H-Imidazole (4EFDI) is a fatty acid that has been shown to have insulin resistance effects in clinical studies. It may also be used as a potential therapy for Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. 4EFDI was found to induce the release of neurotrophic factors, such as nerve growth factor and brain derived neurotrophic factor, from primary rat cortical cells. In addition, it can inhibit the binding of dopamine to its receptors by blocking the α2-adrenergic receptor. 4EFDI has also been shown to increase levels of glutamate in the cerebellum and hippocampus regions of rats.
