Description

N-Ethyl-1-[3-(trifluoromethylsulfanyl)phenyl]propan-2-amine is an aniline derivative that has been used for the treatment of female infertility and male hypogonadism. It has been shown to have a contraceptive effect by inhibiting ovulation and suppressing sperm production. N-Ethyl-1-[3-(trifluoromethylsulfanyl)phenyl]propan-2-amine is taken orally, and has a low bioavailability due to its reactivity with benzyl groups. The drug is metabolized in the liver, where it inhibits fatty acid synthesis and the conversion of glucose into energy, thereby reducing metabolic rate. It also inhibits the reconstitution of nucleic acids, which may be due to its ability to inhibit phosphorylation reactions.
