Product Information
Ethyl 4-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1,3-thiazole-2-carboxylate (ETFT) is a molecule with periplasmic activity. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme synthetase and has been used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. ETFT binds to the active site of a bacterial enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of proteins and prevents formation of peptide bonds. The binding results in inhibition of protein synthesis, which causes cell death. The molecule has also been shown to inhibit mammalian cells by interacting with endogenous enzymes. This drug is currently being studied for its potential use as a cancer therapeutic.
