2-Amino-3-(pyridin-3-yl)propanoic acid dihydrochloride (APDA) is a drug that has inhibitory properties against the mcl-1 protein and cytosolic Ca2+. It is also able to scavenge anion radicals. APDA can be used as a natural compound to treat atherosclerotic lesions and anti-tumor response. APDA binds to the mitochondrial membrane potential, thereby preventing it from decreasing, which leads to cell apoptosis. APDA also inhibits tumor growth in mice by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
