4-Fluorophthalic anhydride is a reactive, hydrogen-sensitive compound that reacts with copper chloride to form a salt and hydrogen fluoride. The reaction solution is activated by the nucleophilic attack of chloride ion to form the 4-fluorophthalic acid. It is resistant to microorganisms, which can be inhibited by diphenyl ether or antimicrobial agents. This compound has been used as a polymer film and thermodynamics studies have shown that it exhibits particle morphology.
