4-Fluorophenylbutanoyl is a δ-opioid agonist that binds to the δ-opioid receptor with a binding affinity of 1.2 nM. It has been shown to be a constant, with an EC50 of 0.05 nM when tested in binding experiments on human erythrocytes, and an ED50 of 0.5 mg/kg in mice when given intraperitoneally. 4-Fluorophenylbutanoyl has also been shown to be degradable by cytochrome P-450 enzymes and is metabolized via CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 pathways. These properties make it a potential nootropic agent for use in patients suffering from schizophrenic disorders or other inflammatory diseases that are associated with dopamine release.
