1-[2-[4-(4-Fluorobenzoyl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-1,3-dihydro-3,3-dimethyl-2H-indol-2-one is a serotonin receptor antagonist. It interacts with the 5HT1D receptor and blocks the binding of serotonin to this receptor. 1-[2-[4-(4-Fluorobenzoyl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-1,3-dihydro-3,3-dimethylindol 2 one has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of 5HT release from the rat brain. This drug also has potential as a therapeutic agent for Parkinson's disease and depression.
