5-[(3S,4R,5R)-3-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-1-Methylpyrimidine-2,4-Dione is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the replication of influenza A virus. It has been shown to have significant inhibitory activity against influenza A and B viruses in tissue culture. 5-[(3S,4R,5R)-3-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-1-Methylpyrimidine-2,4-Dione inhibits the uptake of influenza virus by cells. This drug is a nucleophilic agent that reacts with azides to form an azide intermediate. The azide intermediate then reacts with sulfur trifluoride to produce pyrimidine sulfonyl fluoride and difluoroamine.
