4-Fluorophenyl)-[4-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-hydroxy-1-methylpiperidin-3-yl]methanone hydrochloride (FPHPM) is a diagnostic agent that has been shown to be useful in the diagnosis of fatty acid disorders. The biological properties of this compound are related to its ability to inhibit the activity of trypsin and other proteases. FPHPM is also used as a biocompatible polymer for stent implantation, and it has been shown to have pharmacological effects on cardiac muscle tissue and on the central nervous system. FPHPM has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, and in diabetes mellitus.
