2-Fluoropyridine-4-boronic acid pinacol ester is a fluorescent probe that can be used to detect the presence of hydrogen peroxide in the environment. It has been shown to react with hydrogen peroxide by absorbing light and emitting fluorescence. The 2-fluoropyridine-4-boronic acid pinacol ester has an x-ray diffraction pattern that consists of one sharp peak at 2θ = 11.2°, which corresponds to the molecular structure of the compound. This probe is also able to emit luminescence when exposed to channels in a solid state, and its quantum yield is 0.1%. The steady state fluorescence emission spectrum for this probe has a maximum at λmax=532 nm, with a quantum yield of 0.1%. The crystal structure of this compound was determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction studies.
