3-Fluoro-5-[[(2S)-3-methyl-1-oxo-2-[(phenylmethoxy)carbonylamino]butyl]amino]-4-oxopentanoic acid (3FPA) is a prodrug that has been shown to have clinical relevance in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as bronchial asthma. 3FPA inhibits the BCR-ABL kinase, which is found in leukemia cells, and induces apoptosis. 3FPA also prevents cell growth, cancer, and cellular transformation. It has been shown to have antiangiogenic properties by inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation and migration. 3FPA also inhibits the activation of CD4+ T cells from patients with rheumatoid arthritis by preventing the phosphorylation of nuclear factor kappa beta (NFκB).
