(R)-1-(2-Fluorophenyl)ethanol is a hydrogenated, hydrophobic, template molecule that is used in the transfer hydrogenation of organic polymers. It can be used to catalyze the transfer of hydrogen atoms from an organic polymer to a catalyst. The solid-state molecular imprinting technique has been shown to be an effective way of producing molecularly imprinted polymers. This technique uses (R)-1-(2-Fluorophenyl)ethanol as a template molecule and an organic polymer as a matrix. Molecularly imprinted polymers have been shown to be effective for the separation of aromatic hydrocarbons.
