Telazol is a prodrug that is metabolized in vivo to its active form, 4-(2-fluorophenyl)-6,8-dihydro-1,3,8-trimethyl-Pyrazolo[3,4-e][1,4]diazepin-7(1H)-one (TFD). Telazol has been shown to have low toxicity when administered at low doses (0.5 mg/kg) to rats.
