Description

5-Fluoro-2-methylpyridine is a chemical compound that can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It reacts with benzoic acid to form 5-fluoro-2-methylbenzoic acid, which has been shown to have antihistamine properties. The reaction product is a constant, which is determined by the constant pressure and diameter of the reactor. 5-Fluoro-2-methylpyridine can also react with dopamine to form 5-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole (DHP) and 5-(3,4,5 -trihydroxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole (THP), both of which are biogenic amines.
