Product Information
- 2-Hydroxy-5-fluoropyrimidine
5-fluoro-2-hydroxypyrimidine is a cytidine deaminase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the production of guanine and other nucleotides in human liver cells. This drug reversibly binds to the enzyme, which prevents it from binding to its natural substrate. 5-fluoro-2-hydroxypyrimidine inhibits the enzyme by binding to the active site with a higher affinity than its natural substrate. This drug is also able to bind to mutant enzymes that lack an active site, thereby inhibiting their activity. 5-fluoro-2-hydroxypyrimidine is also used as a biochemical tool for studying DNA synthesis and repair in metaphase preparations of mammalian cells.
