- 4-Pyrimidinamine, 5-fluoro-2-methoxy- (9CI)
- 4-Amino-5-Fluoro-2-Methoxypyrimidine
- 5-Fluoro-2-methoxy-4-pyrimidinamine
5-Fluoro-2-methoxypyrimidin-4-amine is a cyclization reaction product of bisulfite and hydroxylamine. It can be used to synthesize the herbicide florasulam. 5-Fluoro-2-methoxypyrimidin-4-amine reacts with diazotized chloride to form the sulfonyl chlorides, which are then reacted with sodium nitrite in a chlorination reaction to produce the nitrosochlorides. This chemical can also be produced by reacting sodium bisulfite with chlorinated solvents such as chloride or nitrite in a cyclization reaction. Nitrosamines are toxic compounds that are known carcinogens and can cause cancer in humans.
