Description:
7-Fluoroisoquinoline is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. It inhibits the activity of cyclin-dependent kinases and, thus, cancer cell proliferation. 7-Fluoroisoquinoline has been shown to be effective against colon cancer cells and is currently being researched for its potential as a therapeutic agent. This drug is synthesized by the reaction of methyl acetoacetate with 2-chloropyridine in the presence of catalytic amounts of copper(II) oxide. The synthesis method was developed in 2011 and has proven to be an efficient route for producing high yields of this compound with minimal side reactions.
